I wanted to open a salon for years but the timing was never right. So I put the idea on the back burner for a few years. Then a friend called to tell me about a space he saw on Grand Avenue, the former home of a stamp collecting shop. Thinking "what the heck", I went to look. It was dark and in serious need of renovation, but I loved the space as well as the neighborhood - I could not wait to get started.
First I gutted the inside down to the studs. That was followed by the addition of the mezzanine and a new bathroom, as well as plumbing, electrical upgrades, lighting - basically everything!
The end result is beautiful. I had a lot of fun shopping for furniture and found some great styling chairs that are really comfy and have nice clean lines. That led to the purchase of a couple of mid-century modern chairs and then a few more. In the end I had a nice mix of modern pieces in a contemporary space. Feedback from clients and neighbors has been very positive and supportive.
